Winplot for
Windows 95/98/ME/2K/XP (597K) (30 Dec 2006)
30 Dec: The surface-surface intersection dialog in 3D now allows planar examples. Deletion of such intersection curves, as well as deletion of level curves and other ivps was sometimes performing erratically, so that has also been improved, I hope.
26 Dec: I just noticed that I accidently altered the value one of my 3D hidden-line parameters, causing a noticeable lack of accuracy near surface-surface intersections (among other things). This has been fixed, but I may have to install a control in the near future.
25 Dec: A user reported that the 3D One|Slice dialog was sometimes placing tangent planes in the wrong places initially. There will be better behavior from now on, I hope.
22 Dec: Fixed a minor bug that sometimes prevented the 3D surface-curve Intersection dialog from seeing an intersection point.
15 Dec: It was quickly reported that the new volumes-of-revolution dialog box did not consider the possibility that the region might not lie in the first quadrant. Let’s see if I did a better job with this version.
10 Dec: Added volumes of revolution to the 2D window, for regions of the form f(x) < y < g(x), revolved around either coordinate axis.
1 Dec: New supplementary material uploaded today.
30 Nov: All the foreign-language versions now have word-wrapped help texts. Please let me know if I damaged the texts.
25 Nov: Posted the Korean version today.
15 Nov: Posted the Croatian version today.
14 Nov: Discovered how to word-wrap my help texts. Will extend this feature
to the foreign-language versions when free time permits. Until then, I await news of unintended
consequences.
11 Nov: Fixed a small bug that kept the 2-dim Inventory from displaying new
Recursive examples.
29 Sept: Updated the Slovak version.
27 Sept: Fixed a small bug that allowed some inventory items to be
interchanged when one depended on the other. Updated the Hungarian version.
8 Sept: Updated the Portuguese version.
31 Aug: Updated the Italian version.
29 Aug: Updated the Dutch and Spanish versions.
28 Aug: Updated the French version.
21 Aug: Fixed a small bug that caused crashes when retrieving files
that contain reflected lines and segments (there is nothing wrong with the files).
20 Aug: Responded to two user reports: deleting an individual
“evaluated text” item was impossible, and canceling a “duplicate” inventory item
caused a crash.
15 Aug: Animation of parameters now can be paused.
Updated the German version.
14 Aug: Fixed a small bug that caused crashes when retrieving files
that contain rotated lines ax + by = c.
28 Jul: Fixed a small bug that caused crashes when deleting vertical
lines from the inventory.
21 Jul: As requested by a user, you can now make mutliple selections in
the inventory. In particular, this allows you to swap
pairs of entries. As requested by another user, it is now possible to attach clipboard
graphics to a vertex.
15 July: Updated the Portuguese, Dutch, French, and Italian versions.
25 June: As many users have requested, it is now possible for diagrams
to contain “evaluated” text, which is parsed and whose numerical
value should therefore respond to changes in a parameter (just as graphs do).
See the Buttons menu. The “script” introduced on 18 May
should now behave better (i.e., not crash) if the user enters improper code.
15 June: Trying to close a window that had opened a “linked” window
was causing a crash. Should be ok now.
18 May: Installed an interface that allows multiple examples to be
created simultaneously via a “script” whose syntax is described in the Misc help text.
Some users have found this a quick and convenient way to import existing data, since it
avoids the usual method of copying definitions into dialog boxes (which are of course
still available for editing).
16 May: The Portuguese version now has a “tip of the day” dialog box.
5 Apr: Because there seemed to be some interest, I
installed a “tip of the day” dialog box. If you do not like such
things, just uncheck “show tips” when you first see the box, and it will stay
hidden. You can access the dialog from the main Help menu if you change your
mind, however. User feedback on this feature (including suggestions for new text)
is of course welcome.
25 Mar: A user reported that calculations involving high derivatives of ln(x)
were causing trouble. I think that the problem has been dealt with.
27 Feb: The Slovak version is up to date again.
20 Feb: Fixed a silly error — when compiling the most recent English
version, I inadvertently linked in the Hungarian version of the 2-dim Equa help text.
16 Feb: A user reported trying to open a file that had not been
password-protected, but still refused access to the Inventory. Impossible, I thought, then
I figured out what was happening — an unintended consequence of a “clever” solution to
an earlier problem (31 Dec 2005). This should be a pretty rare event, but watch out: if you saved a file after
using the
Simulprint feature, then that file will show up as password-protected. The current version
does not make that mistake anymore, and it will probably open any files that might have been
saved in this way.
15 Feb: Fixed a 2-dim bug that crashed the program when you
tried to duplicate a One|Plot a List entry in the Inventory. Such items were also
uncooperative about being edited. Should be better now.
13 Feb: In z-plane mapping windows, the arg function has been improved
so that you can now describe curves implicitly using equations
such as “arg(z-2)=arg(z-2i)+3pi/4”.
11 Feb: The German version is now up to date.
6 Feb: In z-plane mapping windows, you can now describe circles
using equations such as “2.5=abs(z-1+i)”. I also fixed a mapping-window crash that was traceable to the inventory dialog box, which in all windows now has a “close” button instead of the usual “X”. It should still work the same way, but let me know if you notice anomalies.
31 Jan: The Spanish version is now up to date.
24 Jan: The Portuguese version is now up to date.
23 Jan: The Hungarian and Slovak versions are now up to date.
12 Jan: The Dutch, French, and Italian versions are now up to date.
6 Jan: Following a suggestion, I implemented a feature
that you might find useful: You can add open or closed circles to the graphs of restricted
y = f(x) examples in 2-dim windows. The syntax for this request is described in the
help file for the Equa menu.
1 Jan: A user reported a bug in the shade-by-solid colors routine (I said that it was complicated). I discovered that I sewed up the patient with one of my tools still inside. Should be better now.
2005 history.
