Wingeom (815K) for Windows 95/98/ME/2K/XP (24 Dec 06)
24 Dec: It was suggested that the 3D window ought to be able to draw Dandelin spheres automatically. Now it can.
22 Dec: Fixed a bug that caused the 2D program to hang in Animate (auto) mode if the polygon Fill dialog had been opened.
19 Dec: The Hungarian, Polish, and Slovak versions are now up to date.
4 Dec: The Dutch and German versions are now up to date.
28 Nov: Added a “pyramid of cubes” to the 3D Unit menu. Also fixed a small bug that was causing the 2D function Unit|Duplicate to incorrectly copy some lines and segments.
22 Nov: The Portuguese version is now up to date.
19 Nov: A user wondered why the “whole figure” tracing option
was not working in 3D. It should be now.
15 Nov: Improved the PiCTeX code for tesselations, especially for hyperbolic
examples. Not perfect yet, but getting there. Also discovered how to word-wrap my help texts.
Will extend this feature to the foreign-language versions when free time permits.
Until then, I await news of unintended consequences.
5 Nov: You can now control drawing attributes for
lines and circles in 2D windows (see Edit menu), and generate PiCTeX code
for tesselations.
20 Aug: The Portuguese version is now up to date.
12 Aug: The German, Hungarian, and Slovak versions are now up to date.
3 Aug: The areas and circumferences of circles in the hyperbolic
plane were not being measured correctly. Now they are.
31 Jul: Added a latitude-longitude polyhedron to the 3D Units
menu, and also fixed the mirror-image switch in the Units|Polyhedral|Classics
dialog box.
27 Jul: A user thought it would be convenient to have isosceles
trapezoids available in the 2D Units|Polygon menu, so now they are.
21 Jul: As requested by a user, it is now possible to attach clipboard
graphics to a vertex.
20 Jul: In the spherical tesselation window, File|Copy to Clipboard was
disabled. It is working now.
18 Jul: The Polish version is now up to date.
15 Jul: Posted the
Turkish version today. Also noticed that the 3D Edit|Faces inventory was not
being updated after certain constructions. and fixed that as well.
8 Jul Made a couple of minor repairs to the toolbars in the
spherical and hyperbolic windows (they were showing items that they should
not have). Updated the Dutch version.
3 Jul: Developed the hyperbolic window some more — you can now
intersect horocycles and hypercycles with each other and with lines and
circles (via right-clicking), and put
sliding points onto them. Also noticed that the Notebooks needed to be enabled in some of the
windows (hyperbolic, spherical, and kites), so files saved in these windows might
possibly crash when reopened. Sorry for the inconvenience.
1 Jul: Added a couple of new 3D construction items:
In the Linear menu, you can create
dihedral angles of specified size by attaching regular polygons to existing edges,
and you can create regular polygons in the Unit menu. Using these items, it is now
much easier to create polyhedral-net animations.
See the demonstration files.
28 Jun: Fixed a couple of minor bugs. The new macro feature was affecting the
filename display after saving a file, and the hyperbolic window was not fully clearing itself
(hypercycles and horocycles) when File|New was clicked. Should be better now.
26 Jun: Posted the
Dutch version today.
25 Jun: A couple of users reported some minor bugs in the most recent
version. I think that they are repaired.
17 Jun: Several changes and corrections: At a user’s request,
there is a new Line|Vector Sum construction
in both 2D and 3D windows, and the 3D Linear|Perpendicular menu also has a new item called
Plane Normal. All the macro items have been moved into a Macro submenu of the Edit menu,
(now including the spherical and 3D windows). There are also illustrative examples of macros in the
Edit help text. A couple of macro bugs were fixed as well; no doubt there are more.
The 2D dialog box Point|Random Point on Circle was not working, but it is now. You can now put arrows
on 3D segments; see the View|Highlight Segments dialog box.
16 May: Fixed a small bug that was causing the Anim|Graph|View dialog
box to reject negative numbers.
14 May: Because there seemed to be some interest, I
installed a “tip of the day” dialog box. If you do not like such
things, just uncheck “show tips” when you first see the box, and it will stay
hidden. You can access the dialog from the main Help menu if you change your
mind, however. User feedback on this feature (including suggestions for new text)
is of course welcome.
25 Apr: A user pointed out that the 2D program was crashing if the
Circs|Poincare dialog box was used to request a line through the center of a circle.
That is now fixed, I hope.
29 Mar: At a user’s request, it is now possible to right-click
movable points onto equidistance curves in the hyperbolic plane. I was so dismayed
by the resulting size of the program, however, that I have been keeping this
new feature a secret for
several days, until I could find a way to make my code more economical. Now I think
it is ready (the new file is smaller than the previous version).
If you notice any new anomalies, please let me know.
9 Mar: In the hyperbolic window, points that were clicked
onto proper arcs were not holding their positions when dragged with the mouse.
That has been fixed.
11 Feb: A user pointed out that the help texts for the new
spherical window were for 3D windows; they are now copies of the texts
for 2D windows. Also, the program did not reject out-of-bounds data for the
ring-of-circles construction; now it does. The German version is now up to date.
3 Feb: A user pointed out that the File|Save menu item was
enabled even when the file was empty, thus allowing you to
trying saving an empty file, whereupon the program would crash. That should not
happen any more.
2 Feb: Added radian-mode versions of the trigonometric
functions to the function library. They are named sinr, cosr, tanr, and so
forth. These are needed for the new spherical geometry window, and they
are available generally.
27 Jan: Forgot to announce a few weeks ago that the measurement dialog box now has
two new buttons, one to switch the display on and off, the other to switch the defining
formula on and off. Thanks to a user for this suggestion.
Macros were not transferring color; now they are.
25 Jan: A user noticed that 2D windows crashed if closed while the toolbar
was open. I hope that is now fixed.
23 Jan: The Hungarian and Slovak versions are now up to date.
22 Jan: For some reason (which I do not understand), the Linear|Altitudes
submenu was grayed out in the most recent version of 3D Wingeom. It seems to be ok now.
17 Jan: The Polish version is now up to date.
12 Jan: The Portuguese version is now up to date.
8 Jan: In the new spherical window, a crash was produced by
trying to attach a regular polygon
to a segment whose length is too large for the requested number of sides.
This has been fixed, I think.
7 Jan: A user reported that the excircle constructor in the 2D
window was not working. Indeed, this got damaged when I was enabling the excircle
constructor for the new spherical window, because the two windows share a lot of
coding. Should be ok now. Keep me posted on any other items that I might have
recently damaged.
1 Jan: The 2D inventory of lines was incorrectly reporting
negative y-intercepts (in analytic mode). In the new spherical windows, you can now
control the color of the “terminator” (which means that you can make it disappear
if you want to).
