Winstats for Windows 3.1 (269K) (23 Oct 01)

This program is incompatible with the Windows 95/98/ME/2K/XP/Vista version, meaning that neither program can open matrix files created by the other. Because matrices can be transferred via the clipboard, however, this is not a serious difficulty.

You may find this introduction useful.

The program also exists in French and Spanish versions.
23 Oct: Fixed a bug that was making it impossible to change the decimal precision in chi-square and t windows.
8 Oct: A Spanish version of Winstats has been prepared with the assistance of Martin Acosta.
4 May: Getting the Greek letters to show up as labels on a normal-curve graph is now a little easier -- you can not only experiment with different fonts, you can try different ASCII codes to get the right symbols to appear. There is a little assistance in the Help menu. Those who downloaded yesterday's version may have noticed that the help files were all in French -- sorry, I am working on a French version and forgot which was which.
3 May: Fixed a little bug that was was causing annoying messages when histograms were being set up.
26 Mar: The two-sample t-test now gives the user a choice of which formula to use for degrees of freedom. Related matter: There was a bug in the tail probability calculation for the Student t distribution when the number of degrees is not a whole number. It is fixed.
21 Mar: The same sharp-eyed user noticed inconsistent results when applying the two-sample t-test of significance. I fixed a faulty formula for the degrees of freedom, and things should be ok now.
18 Mar: A sharp-eyed user noticed that the wrong mean was being used in the Z-test of significance for a population proportion.
14 Dec: Made it easier to bypass initialization files if one of them gets damaged.
29 Oct: You can now display the scale in a scatter plot window.
13 Oct: Fixed correlation demo so that it displays the correct correlation for data sets in which the variance of one variable is zero.
29 Sept: Fixed bug that crashed program when frequency data requested for tables pasted from clipboard into 1-variable windows.
9 Sept: Printing in landscape format now enabled.
4 Sept: Enhanced the boxplot displays for 1-variable windows.
24 Mar: Standard deviations in the dice-sum window were being miscalculated; all better now.
16 Feb: Fixed a bug that was putting crazy percentages at the top of histogram bars. Also made the hotkeys F5 and F6 open frequency windows and histogram windows, as the menus say they do.
2 Oct: Fixed a bug that sometimes crashed normal-curve probability windows.
15 Sept: Fixed a bug that crashed histograms when bar percentages were requested.
12 Mar: Fixed a bug that was mis-sorting arrays (of grouped data) in one-variable windows.
28 Feb: A new demo (confidence intervals) added.
17 Jan: The dice game “craps” has been added to the simulations.
