Exeter, NH, April 18th -Exeter played excellent lacrosse against an outmanned Worcester team to easily coast to a 20-1 victory. Although Exeter was clearly the better team, they still needed to execute. The Big Red did a great job of moving the ball with crisp passing, making the right choices with the ball, and finishing the scoring opportunities. It was a great day for all the reserves to play a lot of lacrosse as liberal substitution started early in the game when Exeter ran out to a 9-0 first quarter lead. Ten different Exeter players scored on the day with Dan Weiniger (3g,1a) , Jeff Reppucci (1g,1a), Mike Sotak (1g), and Pat Fuller (2g) all scoring their first career goals. There were huge offensive performances by Patrick Johnson (4g,5a), Eric Slingerland (3g,3a), and Charlie Gill (2g,3a) with Charlie getting the nod for the game ball based on his great offensive day as well as his toughness on ground balls and his excellent work on the ride. Charlie continues to amaze the coaches with his poise and decision making as only a 9th grader. Mike Sotak, Max Fenkell, Sam Burns, and Seungki Kim dominated faceoffs winning 23 of the 25 draws contested. While it was a relatively easy day for the various long poles that rotated in and out of the game, they did a great job of pressuring Worcester into mistakes and then moving the ball up the field quickly. Sean Fujimori played the entire game in the nets and made 12 saves against the one goal he gave up in the 4th quarter. The team took advantage of this opportunity to work on offensive sets and plays and the overall execution was very good. A few banged up players were able to sit out the action and hopefully will be back soon. The coaches were very pleased with the overall play in a game that could easily have become sloppy and purely physical. video highlights
