Exeter 14   Pingree 4
Exeter, NH , Wednesday, April 22nd -Despite another rainy day, Exeter executed well at all phases of the game and came away with a 14-4 win over a very solid Pingree team. This was a day where if your first name was Max, you were having a big game. Both Max Cassidy and Max Fenkell will receive game balls for their outstanding performances. Max Cassidy was moved back to his familiar attack position in order to increase his offensive output, and he immediately responded with a 3-goal, 1 assist afternoon that featured some excellent dodging and passing. Pingree had no match-up that could stay with the super quick Max C and he took full advantage by leading the team to a 8-1 halftime lead with all four of his points coming in the first two quarters. Max played sparingly in the 2nd half when liberal substitution occurred. Max Fenkell was huge on the face-offs by winning 9/13 against a faceoff team that gave the usually unstoppable Mike Sotak real difficulty in the beginning of the game. Max F completely turned around the momentum of the game and was the catalyst for many unsettled goals. Max also played excellent short stick defense and was all over the field scooping balls, catching clearing passes, and causing turnovers. There were many other outstanding performances that include Eric Slingerland’s usual great game and 5-goal output, Patrick Johnson with another solid 2g,2a afternoon, and Charlie Gill with a 2g, 1a game as well. The defense held a very potent Pingree offense to just 1 goal in the first half and just 1 more going into the 4th quarter. Leading the way was goalie Tyler Page who recorded 13 saves, some of them spectacular, and did a great job leading the clear. Long poles Matt Callahan, Alex Akoto, Matt Hatch, Jeff Reppucci, Ryan Breen, and Adrien Fogelquist were just too much for the Pingree offense to manage. This was a very solid performance that showcased the improvements the Big Red continue to make through their hard work on the practice field.
