Season Outlook For 2008

The outlook for 2008 is very bright indeed. With a core group of veterans returning led by tri-captains Charlie Brewer, Tom Clayton, and Eric Eberhart, there is a great deal of experience and leadership on this year's team. Hopefully some added scoring punch will allow this team to exceed the 10-6 record ofthe 2007 team and avenge a few of the four 1-goal losses from last year.

The Attack - PG's Matt Rawson and Ted McKenna will join with returning veteran Max Cassidy to form an attack unit that should be very potent and effective. Look for Nick Laster, the top goal scorer from 2007, to also leave his midfield spot and occasionally work behind the cage. Adding depth to this group are varsity veterans Owen McAleer and Cole Page, rising JV players Michael Carley and Greg Rives, and new 10th grader Greg Jenkins. Unfortunately, PG Joe Kestner was injured during the hockey season an will be unable to play lacrosse.

The Midfield - This is where the '08 team seems to have the most strength and depth. Moving to midfield from attack is last year's high goal scorer Nick Laster. He is joined by returning veterans Tom Clayton, Charlie Brewer, Eric Eberhart, Eric Slingerland, Conrad Reusch, and Niko Furnald. PG's Jon Stidd, Brent Mayo, and big Henry Lanier will play a huge role in the midfield units and add great scoring potential to an already good returning group.

The Defense - There are some big shoes to fill from the vacancies left by Evan O'Brien (Vermont) and Garrett Nicolson (Dartmouth), but this group led by returning starter Sam Gardner seems ready for the challenge. Joining Sam in the starting unit will be PG Sam Johnson, newcomer Matt Callahan, and veteran long pole middie Eddie Williams. A group of upcoming JV players will all compete for playing time along with converted middie veteran Ryan Breen. Adrien Fogelquist, Tim Shea, Alex Akoto, and Jeff Reppucci will surely add depth to this unit as they gain experience playing at the varsity level.

The Goal - Two year starter Yuri Larrabee '07 is off to Princeton, but the goalie position is in very good hands. Returning backup Tyler Page has been playing all fall and winter after a great summer of playing lax, so he has been preparing hard to take on the starting role. He has great competition coming from PG Nico von Stackelberg out of Lincoln-Sudbury and new 10th grader Sean Fujimori . The coaches have been very impressed with the entire trio of goalies and feel very confident about this position being in good shape.
