2008 New England East vs West Prep All - Star Game
Moses brown Scool, May 25th 2008
The following report was filed by an observer at the game: East 18 West 9
Game Summary:
On a sunny and warm “chamber of commerce” type of Spring Sunday the all stars from the New England (NE) Prep Schools came to Providence to play a spirited and high scoring game of Lacrosse. Most of the NE preps were well represented but none were better represented than Phillips Exeter Academy (PEA).
Eddie Williams, PEA’s strongest long – pole midfielder throughout the 2008 campaign, played an exceptional game for the East team versus a strong West All – Star team. Virtually all of the players on both rosters will be playing in college LAX programs next year. Ed was steady as usual and played mistake free ball throughout the contest.
Nick Laster played a strong midfield at both ends of the field all game. He scored an impressive goal mid way through the second quarter. Then Nick nearly scored on several other chances throughout the game. Nick’s speed and stick work stood out and were noticed by the large fan base assembled at Mo Brown’s field.
Ted McKenna played a patient attack game while accumulating two goals and two assists which were spread out over the 4 quarters. Ted’s first assist came after he stole the ball from the West Goalie on an aggressive Ride at the 3:18 mark of the second quarter. Then, just 8 seconds later Ted found himself with a wide open shot and let a “rocket” go at about head – height that the goalie never saw as it whisked by him into the net. Later in the 4th quarter Ted scored on a nifty underhanded double pump goal.
All in all Ed, Nick and Ted showed very well for PEA and the boys had a lot of fun in this high scoring affair. Their team (the East Squad) came out on top by a final score of 18 – 9.
