Exeter 9  Tabor 3
Marion, MA, Saturday, May, 5th - Exeter jumped out to a 3-0 first quarter lead, and then steadily increased it to 6-1 at the half and 8-1 midway through the 4th quarter as they convincingly defeated a depleted but hustling Tabor team. Taking advantage of Tabor missing some starters, Exeter dominated most phases of the game with Eric Slingerland and Eric Eberhart taking 8/13 faceoffs between them to help Exeter control the ball. Scoring was spread out nicely with four different players scoring 2 goals apiece. The 2-goal scorers included JP Collmus, Nic Laster, Freddy Janney, and game ball winner Chris Silberman. Co-Captain Silberman had been playing exclusively in the midfield, but was called upon to play some attack and he responded extremely well to this new challenge by pumping in the 5th and 8th goals of the game. JP started off the scoring with a nice unassisted goal just one minute into the game, and he scored the 6th goal as well off a beautiful assist from Max Alderman. Freddy's two goals were the 3rd and 7th, and Nic Laster pumped in his 19th and 20th goals of the season, both unassisted. The defense and goalie Yuri Larrabee played their usual steady game, with the lone mark against the starters coming off a great Tabor shot as the horn sounded to end the first half. It is always nice to win on the road after a long bus trip and SAT tests for many of the players. A special thanks to Freddy Janney's Mom Terrell Lamb for organizing the delicious tailgate after the game.
