Exeter 10 Pingree 1
Exeter, NH, Wednesday, April 25th
- With seven different players scoring goals and the defense giving up only
one it was a true team victory. With Pingree playing a ball control offense
for the early part of the game and the Big Red doing the same, the 3-1 score
at the end of the first period does not indicate how much Exeter controlled
the quarter. Nic Laster opened up the scoring with an assist
going to Fred Janney. Prep Eric Slingerland quickly
followed upwith a beautiful unassisted goal to open up a two goal margin.
J.P. Collmus provided another unassisted goal with a nice
drive down the middle of the defense. Freddy Janney finished
up the first half scoring with a great drive from behind the cage that beat
the Pingree goalie with a high bounce shot. Pingree scored their only goal
of the game with 37 seconds left in the first quarter, converting on a man
up situation. The halftime score was 4-1 in Exeter's favor. Slingerland
opened up the second half with a nice shot in the upper corner off a George
Negroponte pass. Laster quickly followed with his
second goal of the contest to make the score 6-1 in favor of the Big Red.
Max Alderman and Negroponte each scored
within 30 seconds of each other in the last two minutes of the quarter to
put the game out of reach against the well coached Pingree team. Collmus
netted his second goal of the afternoon and Owen McAleer
finished the scoring for the day to make the final score 10-1 for the home
town boys. Eric Eberhart continued his excellent face off
play as he won 10 of the 15 face offs he took on the day. The defense of
game ball winner Eddie Williams,
Garrett Nicholson, John Dwyer,
B.J. Lalonde and Evan O'Brien all played very well.
Yuri Larrabee and Tyler Page shared the
duties in net and combined to save six of the seven shots on cage.
