Exeter 8  Moses Brown 4
Exeter, NH, Saturday, April 21st - Led by Nic Laster's three first period goals, Exeter jumped out to a 5-0 first period lead and never looked back as they coasted to a somewhat misleading 8-4 win over Moses Brown. Game ball winner Yuri Larrabee was not only impenetrable in the goal, but he made several spectacular plays around the crease area in which he gobbled up a loose ball and then raced up the field to lead the clear. Along with great defensive work by Garrett Nicholson, BJ LaLonde, Evan O'Brien, and Eddie Williams, Yuri pitched a shutout for the first three quarters of the game. It was not until Yuri retired to the sideline to start the 4th quarter, and the entire 2nd team was in the game, did Mo Brown notch their first goal. After the 5-0 first quarter, Exeter played excellent ball control lacrosse. Rather than take poor shots and look to run up the score, Exeter ran their offense patiently, controlled the ball, and was content to gradually increase their lead. JP Collmus scored the lone goal of the 2nd quarter on a nice feed from Charlie Brewer, and he also scored the first goal of the 3rd quarter on a great power dodge. Max Alderman (1,1) playing his usual intelligent game at attack, prep sensation Eric Slingerland (1,1), and running mate George Negroponte provided the rest of the scoring for the BIG RED. The sun and some warmth finally returned to New England, so it was a great day to play and watch lacrosse. Many thanks to Bob and Eileen Eberhart for organizing the wonderful tailgate after the game, and to all the other parents and friends who contributed and cheered the team to vistory.
