Exeter 8  Kimball Union Academy 3
Meriden, NH, Wednesday, May 9th - Exeter played a very controlled and patient game at both ends of the field and came away with a well earned 8-3 victory over a very good KUA squad. Eric Eberhart and his wingmen Evan O’Brien, Garrett Nicholson, and Sam Gardner won the majority of the faceoffs against one of the best faceoff men in New England this year. Co-game ball winner Sam Gardner played great all over the field. He shut down his man at the defensive end, cleared the ball several times himself over the midfield line, made excellent choices in his passing, and was his usual physical presence. The other co-game ball winner was middie Charlie Brewer. Charlie was a demon on ground balls, played excellent short stick defense, was a key guy in clearing the ball, and he also chipped in a beautiful unassisted goal in the 2nd quarter. Exeter’s defense behind goalie Yuri Larrabee continues to play great lacrosse. In addition to Evan O’Brien, Garrett Nicholson, and Sam Gardner, John Dwyer played an excellent game, and middie Tom Clayton has proven he can handle any assignment defensively. At the offensive end, Exeter was very patient on this very warm day and was rewarded for their patience with many good looks at the goal. Nic Laster led all scorers with an impressive four-goal effort, and JP Collmus had his best offensive day while scoring three goals spread out over the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarters. Max Alderman handed out two nice assists, and Chris Silberman and Freddy Janney also assisted goals. click here for pics

Special thanks goes to the Exeter girl’s softball team coached by Bruce Pruitt and Rick Parris. When the boys lacrosse bus broke down on route 93, the softball bus, also going to KUA, rescued the lax team and drove us to and from KUA in style.
