Battle of Boston Jamboree
Lincoln-Sudbury HS, March 31st
- This was a GREAT day of lacrosse that consisted of four fifty minute running
time games on the beautiful turf fields of Lincoln-Sudbury High School. The
four opponents for the day were Yarmouth HS from Maine, Medfield HS in MA,
Hotchkiss School from CT, and the host Lincoln-Sudbury. Exeter's starting
defense of Sam Gardner, Garrett Nicholson, John Dwyer,
and Evan O'Brien continued to impress everyone with their
great play. Goalie Yuri Larrabee was stellar in the nets,
and other than Hotchkiss, nobody scored an all even goal against the starting
defense all day. The good news was the improvement in the offensive play from
the Bridgton scrimmage. Max Alderman was impressive as an
attacker in his first playing appearance of the season, and he clicked nicely
with Nic Laster and Freddy Janney. The midfield
lines are still a work in progress, but we seem to be getting closer to finding
the right combinations and maximizing every player's talents. Eric
Slingerland and Sam Gardner did a great job facing
off all day while fellow face-off man Eric Eberhart nursed a bad ankle. Overall,
I think it is fair to say that Exeter outplayed their opponent in three of
the four contests Saturday. The lone exception being Hotchkiss, who played
extremely well against Exeter in all phases of the game and helped show us
where we still need to improve to be at the top level this year.
A special thanks to all those parents who coordinated with Conrad Reusch's parents Henry and Monica for the wonderful food and drink that sustained the boys through their full day of lacrosse. Then there is the super special thanks to Max Alderman's parents Jan and James who hosted players, parents and friends at their home for a delicious barbeque. It was a perfect end to a great day.
