Winchendon -Wednesday, May 17th - Exeter finally came out strong in the first quarter of a lacrosse game and overwhelmed Winchendon with an 8-goal first quarter. Every phase of the game was dominated by Exeter from face-offs to transition, to settled offense and defense. This was a great game for everyone to play a lot of minutes, and the 2nd string took advantage of their playing time opportunity to score goals, to play great defense, and to hustle all over the field. A perfect representative of this group and receiving a game ball for his 1 goal, 2 assist effort is attackman Alex Katz. Alex was all over the field scooping up ground balls, moving the ball effectively on offense and in transition, and bringing great energy and enthusiasm to the game. Evan Rose is the co-game ball winner for snagging 8 of 9 faceoffs, scoring his first varsity goal, playing great in transition, and easily playing his best lacrosse of his career. The 2nd offensive unit of attackmen Charlie Brewer, Sam Cooper, and Henry Porter all played well and controlled the ball and created good scoring opportunities. The 2nd and 3rd middie lines had great games, as did the d-middies. Wes Chaput continues his stellar play and pitched in with two goals; while Tom Clayton (2 goals), Evan Rose (1 goal), and Andrew Hong ( 1 assist) all played very effectively. The defense not only frustrated the Winchendon offense, but they also got into the offensive mood. Brett Hughes scored his second goal of the season, Colin Murphy registered a very nice transition assist, and prep Sam Gardner also displayed great stick skills as he went the length of the field to assist the Sam Cooper goal. It was great to be outside on a nice day after so much rain and practicing indoors all week. Click here to see game pics
