Exeter 8  NMH 4
Northfield, MA, Saturday, May 13th - Fueled by a seven goal outburst after NMH took a brief 3-1 lead in the 1st quarter, Exeter's BIG RED went on to an 8-4 victory. Despite heavy rains in New England, the NMH field conditions were excellent and the Hoggers came out ready to upset the bus weary Exonians. After a sluggish first half that ended 4-3, Exeter started to play some real lacrosse. Game ball co-winner Chris Silberman had his best game of the season while scoring three goals and otherwise playing error free lacrosse. His goal near the end of the half helped set the tone for a well played 3rd quarter. Also making significant offensive contributions were Scott MacKenzie (2g, 1 a), Chris Duffy (1g, 2 a), and Michael Scalise (1g, 2 a). Meanwhile, the Exeter defense led by Brett Hughes, Colin Murphy, and Andrew Farrissey shut down the NMH offense completely for a stretch that lasted from 2:20 of the 1st quarter to 1:15 left in the game. The other co-game ball winner was goalie Yuri Larrabee who played the entire 2nd half flawlessly. He made every save but one, and he cleared the ball beautifully with sharp passing up the field. The lone goal against him near the end of the game was a fast break situation that resulted in a dunk from the crease. After going up 8-4 one minute into the 4th quarter, there was liberal substitution with the reserves playing steady the last 11 minutes of the game. Exeter still needs to solve the mystery of their very sluggish starts for every game, but this was a nice win on the road after a long drive.
