2005 Honors and Awards
The Eastern New England lacrosse coaches met
on Tuesday, May 24th to vote on post season awards, All-American selections,
and Senior East-West game selections. Exeter's great season was duly noted
by the selection of many Exeter players for post season honors.
SECONDARY SCHOOL ALL-AMERICAN
Brett
Hughes
Brett is one of the rare undergraduate All-Americans that are
selected since the tendency is to favor seniors. He joins many former Exeter
great players on the Exeter
All American list , with Tom
Petty '05, Michael
Saraceni '00, Joaquin
Walker '01, and Bart
Hacking '95 as the only Exeter underclassmen to ever be voted All-American.
His incredible season as perhaps the most feared long stick middie in New
England and a key player on one of the best defenses in Exeter history was
recognized by coaches as deserving of this great honor.
ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN
Kirk
Bansak
Kirk has the distinct honor of bing named the
Eastern New England Academic All-American. There is only one player given
this great distinction, and never has anyone been more deserving. Kirk joins
Georges Dyer '96 (Dartmouth
'01) and Andrew Sung '01 (Princeton
'05) as the 3rd Exeter player honored as Academic
All-American. Not only has Kirk distinguished himself in the classroom
the last three years with an almost straight A average in very advanced courses,
but he has also been the captain and leader of this 2005 team on and off the
field. Kirk will attend Harvard next year where his great speed and defensive
prowess will certainly help the Harvard lacrosse team.
East-West Senior
All-Star Game Selections
The Division I Senior Prep School East-West
All Star game will be played on Sunday, May 29th, at 3:00 PM, at Loomis Chaffee.
Last year, the East upset the West 8-7 in overtime, with Exeter players Dylan
Cox, Sloan Smith, and Tim Redmond all playing key roles for the winning East
team.
