East-West Senior Prep School All Star Game West 15 East 11
Saturday, May 31st, 2003 - After a sudden downpour immediately after
the morning practice, the skies cleared and the 45 Annual New England Secondary
School Lacrosse Association (NESSLA) Senior All-Star game was able to begin.
Exeter was well represented with three players in the game. Gavin Nurick
was able to hand out three assists and snatch 4 out of 5 faceoffs from the
best Western faceoff middies. Wiley Dornseif was his usual take-away
self on the defense and took part in some spectacular clears that featured
Wiley running solo up the field. Will Tuttle distinguished himself
with great individual defense, and helped anchor what was the strongest part
of the Eastern team. The East was unfortuantely missing some of their key
offensive threats including Exeter's own Mike Hines who was attending
his brother's graduation from West Point. With the East handicapped offensively,
the West was able to capitalize on controlling the ball and applying constant
pressure to the East defense. The refs let the kids play, and it was a very
enjoyable and worthwhile event for all participants.
