East-West Senior Prep School All Star Game - Saturday, June 1st, 2002

East 19 - West 12

The Eastern senior prep school all stars defeated the West 19-12 for the second consecutive year in the 44th edition of this traditional game. This was a close game through the first 3 quarters as the East led 3-1 after the first period, and the West led 8-7 at the half. After the west scored the first 3 goals of the 3rd quarter to go on top 11-7, it looked like the East was in for a long day. However, sparked by the seniors from Governor Dummer, Middlesex, Holderness, and Exeter, the East came roaring back. The MVP for the East was long stick middie Cotter from Middlesex, and he started winning every faceoff as either the face-off man or a wing man. With the ball always on offense, the East attack and middies applied great pressure to the West defense, and the shots started flying. Attakmen Taylor Brown from GDA and A. Herter from Middlesex did the damage in the 3rd quarter, and Alan Eberstein, K,Kimball from St Marks, and H. Sheehan from St Georges took over the offense in the 4th. The middies dominated ground balls, and Peter Monroe had a number of good clears, and played well all around. Gabe Wood played both long pole and close defense, and he did a great job in both positions. Gabe had several dashes up the field after ground balls or clearing passes. It was a great showcase of talent for all the New England prep schools. Most of these players will be playing at the next level for various colleges next season.
