Exeter 17 St Johns Prep 8
Monday, May 6th - Exeter, NH Exeter
jumped out to a 5-2 lead after the first quarter behind goals from five different
scorers. Exeter then put together 4 more unanswered goals by midway through
the 2nd quarter, and liberal substitution ensued. The score at the half was
11-4, and St Johns was unable to draw any closer than 6 goals the rest of
the way. Offensively, nine different players scored, with the most points
coming from Casey D'Annolfo (3 goals, 3 assists), Alan Eberstein
(3 goals, 1 assist), and game ball winner
Peter Monroe's (3 goals and 1 assist). Peter was excellent off
the wing on faceoffs, cleared well in transition, played very tough defense,
and of course scored some big goals. Other multiple goal scorers were Colin
Thune (2 goals), and faceoff phenom Wyatt Golding with 2 goals.
The defense played effectively and aggressively, and the long pole group of
Seth Coburn, Ben Gage, Matt Perdoni, and Gabe Wood
was particularly effective working with goalies Jeff Miller and Jamie
Prudden on clears in this game. Although the defense had some trouble
controlling St John Prep's leading scorer Mike Hines (4 goals), the fact he
is doing a PG year at Exeter next year makes it easier to handle. Second and
third line middies Taylor Evans, Sloan Smith, Bobby Goulding, and Ryan Ambs
all played extremely well, with Ryan, Sloan, and Bobby each scoring a goal.
Exeter took care of business today, and everyone played well. See
