Exeter 13  Pingree  3
April 24th, Hamilton, MA - The Big Red jumped out to a 4-0 lead at the end of the 1st quarter on three goals by Captain Alan Eberstein, who finished the day with six. Fellow captain Ryan Voccola scored the other goal. This fast paced first quarter set the tone and Exeter never looked back. Exeter extended their lead to 9-1 by halftime with lots of production by everyone. During the second stanza Exeter got goals by Gavin Nurick, Casey D'Annolfo, Tom Petty, and two more by Eberstein. In the first half outburst eight of the nine goals were assisted and three came on the extra man offense. Peter Monroe picked up two of the assists while D'Annolfo, Eberstein, Colin Thune, Suresh Jones, and Rob Bear added to the assist totals. The defense was never really tested as Jeff Miller recorded only three saves during the half. The second half saw liberal substitutions and saw Pingree come out scrappy as they hustled and scooped up several ground balls. Eberstein and Voccola each recorded one more goal each and Joe Houlder also ripped a rope shot into the nets. Three of the four 2nd half goals were by Taylor Evans, Jon Rollo, and Tom Petty respectively. The Big Red had trouble early on with face offs until face off specialist and game ball winner James Sheehan entered the game and proceeded to dominate this facet of the contest. To cap off his performance, James Sheehan scored the final goal of the game, the first point of his varsity career. This goal came off a great unselfish feed from John Rollo as Sheehan snagged the pass, then with a dip and a dunk move closed out the scoring for Exeter. This was a good win on a beautiful afternoon at the Highlanders home field.
