Exeter 10 KUA 5
Wednesday, May 8th, Exeter, NH - Exeter jumped
out to a very quick lead of 5-0 in the first quarter, and then coasted to
a 10-5 win that featured a lot of playing time for the Exeter reserve players.
Colin Thune did the early damage by scoring Exeter's first two goals
on solo dodges. Then game ball winner Ryan
Voccola scored and assisted on two of the next three goals to give the
Big Red a five goal cushion. Ryan was his usual cool and calm self
as he played attack at times, and also played some midfield. Ryan even
made a great defensive stop when isolated by an opposing middie for a dodge.
Ryan helps coach our JV team, and he thinks like a coach on the field.
He always can be counted upon to settle the team down and make good decisions.
Meanwhile, the defense of Matt Perdoni, Ben Gage, Seth Coburn,
Gabe Wood, and Tom Rubel was pressing the KUA offense into mistakes
or poor shots. The defensive pressure coupled with Wyatt Golding's
usual good faceoff work, kept the opposition scoreless the entire first half.
Peter Monroe played another strong game all over the field. He played
tough defense, gobbled up ground balls, and added a goal and an assist as
well. When Exeter scored three more goals to KUA's singleton in the 3rd period,
the Big Red held a 9-1 advantage. The starters went to the bench, and Exeter's
subs played hard and well in the 4th period. So did KUA. Ryan Ambs
had another nice goal, and prep Tom Petty scored two more as well.
