Exeter 10 GDA 12
Wednesady, May 15th, Exeter, NH - As predicted, this
was a battle between two evenly matched teams who are among the best this
year in Eastern New England. GDA stunned Exeter with a 6 goal outburst in
the 1st quarter versus Exeter's 3 goals, and this 3 goal difference more than
accounted for the ultimate difference at the end. Unlike last year, when Exeter
was able to stymie the GDA star attackman, this year he erupted for 5 goals,
including the last 3 of the game for GDA. Exeter's slides were either late
or too early, and when loose balls were created, Exeter was beaten in the
ground ball department. After the shaky first quarter, Exeter settled down
and made a comeback behind three 2nd period goals by Alan Eberstein.
Despite playing better in the 2nd thru 4th quarters, Exeter could never quite
catch GDA as they always responded with a goal to stay one or two ahead. GDA's
star players Taylor Brown and JJ Morrissey came through in the clutch in this
big game as they scored or assisted on 11 of GDA's 12 goals. Exeter's game
plan of stopping them did not get executed. At Exeter's offensive end, lots
of opportunities were created, but some poor shooting and a good day by the
GDA goalie hurt the offensive production. Alan Eberstein finished the
day with an impressive 5 goals and 2 assists, while Peter Monroe had
a 1 goal and 3 assist effort. Wyatt Golding had his usual outstanding
game facing off, but Exeter just fell short against a team that played better
on this particular day. This was the first loss against a prep school opponent
this year for Exeter See game pics
