Exeter 7 Belmont Hill School 5
As expected, Exeter and Belmont Hill tangled in their
usual close and hard fought contest. After a low scoring first half that had
Belmont with a 2-1 lead, Exeter played a dominating 3rd quarter by outscoring
Belmont 5-0. Offensively, Exeter was led by Alan Eberstein (2 goals and 2
assists) and Casey D'Annalfo (2 goals). However it was the outstanding goalie
play of Jeff Miller that truly turned
the game around for Exeter, and thus is deserving of the game ball award.
Jeff finished the day with 12 saves, but many of them were from close range
and quite extraordinary. Jeff also was key in Exeter successfully clearing
the ball from our defensive end so well. Also having outstanding games were
the entire defensive unit of Ben Gage, Seth Coburn, Matt Perdoni, and Gabe
Wood. They limited Belmont to a total of 3 goals before they were replaced
in the 4th quarter. Once again, Wyatt Golding did a super job by taking all
the faceoffs, winning most of them, and gobbling up ground balls all over
the field. The attack unit accounted for 6 of Exeter's 7 goals with Colin
Thune notching his 2nd of the season, and prep Tom Petty scoring his first
career goal. It was a great 2nd half comeback after a sluggish 1st half, so
players and coaches were pleased with the day's efforts.
