Exeter 10 Yarmouth HS 2
Thursday, April, 19th, Exeter, NH- Exeter played a very
steady and solid game today as they easily defeated a less experienced squad
from Yarmouth, Maine. Game ball winner Jeff Miller received his first start
of the season in the goal and did an outstanding job making saves and especially
in clearing the ball. All the defenseman played well, but special mention
goes to Seth Coburn and Ben Gage who each played very effectively. All of
the middies received a lot of playing time, and Wyatt Golding and Matt Stolpinski
dominated faceoffs while the coaches gave Andrew Sung a break from that task.
Leading the offense for the 2nd consecutive game was Alan Eberstein's 4 goals.
First quarter goals by Alan, Luke Nutting, and a career first for Gavin Nurick
gave the Big Red a 3-0 lead. Four more goals in the 2nd quarter put the game
out of reach. The first goal of that quarter by Ryan Voccola was a real backbreaker
because it came only seconds after Exeter effectively killed off a 3 minute
nonreleasable stick penalty. It was a good game for everyone to play lots
of minutes and to work on all aspects of their game.
