Exeter 14 Thayer 5
April 21st - The Big Red from Exeter were led to victory by
game ball winner Alan Eberstein with his 4 goal and 3 assist effort. Two of
those four goals came in the 5 goal 2nd period when Exeter started to pull
away with victory. Although Thayer scored the first goal of the 3rd period,
Exeter retaliated with a six goal explosion in the space of just 4 minutes
to put the game comfortably out of reach. Other offensive stars of the game
were Ben Harris (3 goals, 1 assist), Andrew Sung (4 assists), Peter Monroe
(1 goal, 2 assists), and Colin Thune and Luke Nutting who each scored 2 goals.
The defense and goalies Brian Anand and Jeff Miller did not allow a single
goal to be scored by a Thayer attackman. All of the opposition goals came
from midfielders, and a few of those were man-down situations or late in the
game when things were out of reach. This was a solid overall effort by Exeter
in all aspects of the game. It is very encouraging to see the offense and
transition game coming together.
