Exeter 8  St. Pauls 6
April 11th, Exeter, NH - Exeter faced a very physical and aggressive St. Pauls team and was fortunate to come away with a close win. Despite dominating groundballs and the control of the ball for much of the game, Exeter needed to come back from a 5-3 deficit to notch their 3rd consecutive win. Game ball winner Andrew Sung was the hero because of his great faceoff play, his overall work on groundballs, and being the key guy to start the comeback at the end of the 3rd quarter. Exeter went on top early with a patented Joquin Walker dodge and score. Luke Nutting's goal off a dodge and another Joaquin score put Exeter up 3-1 after one quarter. Exeter played very scattered and out of synch for most of the 2nd and 3rd quarters. St. Paul's took advantage and scored 4 unanswered goals to take a 5-3 lead with less than 1 minute left in the 3rd. Andrew Sung hit on a great outside bounce shot on a flag situation. He then won the man-up face-off and led a classic fast break that resulted in an Alan Eberstein goal just 11 seconds later. The two goals at the end of the 3rd was the turning point in the game. Exeter went on to score 3 unanswered goals in the 4th period before giving up a final goal with 2 minutes to play. Alan Eberstein played extremely well and was high scorer with 2 goals and 2 assists. The defense was a little inconsistent and made more errors than usual, but they will be ready to play against state champs Pinkerton on Friday. Read the St Paul's write-up of the game + pictures.
