Exeter 16 NMH 0
Exeter showed why they are the #1 ranked prep lacrosse team in Eastern
New England with a dominating 16-0 win over Northfield Mt Hermon. Andrew Sung
won the opening faceoff, withing 30 seconds Joaquin Walker scored on an assist
from Ben Harris, and Exeter never looked back. In their biggest offensive
display of the season, Exeter shot out to an 8-0 lead after the 1st quarter
as 6 different players found the back of the nets. Game ball winner Gavin
Nurick continued his excellent play at attack as he scored twice during
this opening period barrage. Every aspect of the game remain controlled by
the Big Red despite the liberal substitution that took place early in the
game. Defenders Ben Gage, Seth Coburn, and Dave Bowman played flawless defense
in front of backup goalie Jeff Miller. Jeff made good saves on all five shots
that NMH managed to put on target. Clearly the Hoggers from NMH were not their
usual competitive foe this year. Exeter's 10-0 halftime lead was too much
of a margin for any hope of a 2nd half comeback, and Exeter managed to score
three more unanswered goals in the 3rd quarter despite going to a slow down
offense. In the end, 13 different Exeter players either scored or assisted
a score in the contest. Everyone played well, and Exeter continues to improve
as a team as we head into the most demanding part of the season's schedule.
