Exeter 15 Londonderry HS 1
Wed, April 18th, Londonderry, NH - Exeter struggled offensively against
a Londonderry zone defense and a very hot goalie for most of the first half.
Although Exeter controlled the ball most of the time, shot selection or shot
execution kept the score close. The defense was led by Adam White and completely
controlled the Londonderry attack. White, along with defenseman Greg Donohue,
Chris Lawrence, and Ben Courchesne took the ball away from their opponent
repeatedly and then cleared it easily to the offensive end. Adam scored two
of Exeter's 4 first half goals on unassisted fast break dashes down the field.
The second half was a completely different ball game for the Big Red. The
offense came alive and was led by Alan Eberstein's career high 4 goals and
3 assists. Andrew Dodwell played much of the game at attack, and was a big
contributor with a goal and two nice assists. In addition, Ben Harris (2 goals),
Matt Stolpinski (1 goal, 1 assist), Wyatt Golding (1 goal, 1 assist), and
Luke Nutting (1 goal, 1 assist), all made big offensive contributions in the
2nd half. Andrew Sung, Matt Stolpinski, and Wyatt Golding dominated faceoffs.
with solid play from their wingmen. Goalies Brian Anand and Jeff Miller did
not have to make too many saves, but they came up big when they were called
upon. Both goalies did a nice job of passing downfield quickly to start fast
breaks.
