Exeter 14 Pinkerton 8
Exeter played with real intensity and poise as they convincingly defeated an excellent Pinkerton Academy team that is once again destined to be the New Hampshire State Lacrosse Champions. Pinkerton came out extremely aggressively and tried to play take-away lacrosse by using their depth and athleticism. These pressure tactics worked reasonably well in the first quarter keeping the game low scoring at 2-2. However, the Exeter players responded extremely well to the pressure after that and did a great job of making an initial dodge and then finding the open man as soon as the slide came. As usual, the offense was led by Michael Saraceni with 4 goals and 3 assists, but he was well supported by many key players. Game ball winner Colin Thune had a big 4 goal day, and did a great job handling the ball and the Pinkerton pressure. In addition, Joaquin Walker chipped in with 2 goals, 2 assists, Ryan Glennon had a goal and 3 assists, Damien Chaviano scored 2 and assisted once, and Andrew Sung had his most productive game with a goal and two assists. Also playing great in the midfield was Dave Seger, Andrew Dodwell, and long stick middie Nick Crawford. Goalie Brian Anand had his best game of the season as he turned away 8 Pinkerton shots and did a great job directing the clear. Holding the explosive Pinkerton offense in check was Greg Donohue, Will Gilmore, and Adam White. This was a great rebound win after the disappointing loss on Wednesday. The team showed character, toughness, and poise against a very solid opponent.
