Exeter 13  Governor Dummer 7

Exeter defeated a very scrappy GDA squad by a six goal margin that was created in the 4th quarter. GDA gave the Big Red a tough battle through ¾ of the game by hustling on every ground ball and playing physical lacrosse. Exeter created many scoring opportunities throughout the first part of the game, but poor shooting and good goalie play kept the ball out of the net. Joaquin Walker sparked the offense in the first half by scoring Exeter's first two goals of the game. Game ball winner Ben Courchesne scored his first career goal when he made a great clear up the middle of the field and fired in a high shot into the corner. Exeter needed two goals near the end of the half to even the score to 5-5 at halftime. After Exeter took a 7-5 lead midway through the 3rd period on goals by Saraceni and Chaviano, it appeared that Exeter might pull away from GDA. However, two quick goals by the opposition knotted the score at 7-7 going into the last period of play. Dave Seger and Alan Eberstein scored quickly on excellent isolation dodges from out front, and then Colin Thune and Damien Chaviano each scored two 4th quarter goals to put the game away. Ryan Glennon and Andrew Sung did a great job on faceoffs throughout the 4th period which allowed the offense to keep the ball and pressure the defense.
