Exeter 16  Andover 8

Exeter put on a big offensive show as they defeated Andover 16-8. The offense was led by All-American attackman Michael Saraceni (3 goals, 4 assists), and game ball co-recipients Damien Chaviano (5 goals, 1 assist) and Joaquin Walker (3 goals, 2 assists). Exeter profited by Andover penalties in both the 1st and 2nd quarters and scored 6 and 7 goals respectively in those quarters to take a big 13-7 halftime lead. Andover kept the score close for the first quarter by scoring 4 goals of their own, but the defense of Greg Donohue, Ben Courchesne, Will Gilmore, Adam White, and long stick middie Andrew Dodwell clamped down and limited Andover to just 1 second half goal. Goalie Brian Anand had 10 saves on the day and was very effective  clearing the ball. As in all Exeter vs Andover games, this contest was intense and hard-hitting from the start. Both teams were called for multiple penalties with Andover mostly penalized in the first half, while all of Exeter's penalties came in the 2nd half. While Exeter's man-up offense scored on a high percentage of their opportunities, Andover's man-up offense could not penetrate the Big Red's man-down defense. Other plays and players of note include Rob Bateman's 2 goals, defenseman Greg Donohue's 1st quarter coast to coast clear ending with a goal, and an Alan Eberstein backhand hockey slap shot goal on a loose ball from 8 yds out. It was a great win to wrap up a great season for the Big Red.
