Howard Fish Jr.
Head Coach 1962-1964
Record as Head Coach-  26-7

Howard was born on July 17th, 1929, and became the first and only Exeter head lacrosse coach to also have attended and played for PEA. Howard was a great attackman who was a key player for the undefeated 1947 team, and then captained the Exeter 1948 team to a 6-1 record with their only loss against the Harvard freshman. Howard was coached by the three "founding fathers" of Exeter lacrosse in Norm Hatch, Bob Kesler, and Alan Vrooman.

Howard matriculated to Princeton where he played three years of varsity lacrosse after being co-captain of his freshman lacrosse team in 1949. After graduating from Princeton, Howard studied at the Southern California School of Theology while also teaching at the Webb School. Howard earned his PhD from Edinburgh University in 1958, and was appointed to the Exeter Religion Department in 1961.

In 1962, the torch was passed from the "founding fathers" of Exeter lacrosse to the very capable hands of Howard Fish. It was only fitting that someone who was an integral part of Exeter lacrosse as a student would inherit the head coaching job from Coach Vrooman. Although Howard's stint as the coach at Exeter was a short three years, he amassed an impressive 26-7 won-loss record over that period of time, and he led the Big Red to three one-goal victories over Andover. Howard left Exeter after the 1964 school year for the Yale Divinity School.

Howard Fish was born July 17th, 1929, and he passed away on July 27th, 2001.
