Greg Donohue- 2001

Nicknamed "HUGE" by his peers, Greg came to Exeter as a fabulous prep football and ice hockey athlete who had never played lacrosse before. It was clear immediately that he had a wonderful lacrosse career ahead of him, and by the middle of his prep year he became a starting defenseman. Through his natural growth as an athlete, and his hard work on his stick skills and defensive techniques, Greg became one of the best defenseman in the league with only one year of experience. By the time Greg was an 11th grader, his teammates voted him a captain, and the coaches assigned him the most dangerous scorer on each opposing team. Greg's combination of speed and strength allowed him to play both fast and quick attackmen or stronger more powerful attackmen equally well. He was great in transition and clearing the ball as well. Greg, who shared the MVP award and Goodwin Prize with teammate Joaquin Walker, was also MVP of the football team his senior year. Greg was a starting defenseman on a young and talented Amherst lacrosse team that will certainly challenge for the NESCAC championship before he graduates. As a sophomore for Amherst, Greg made 2nd team All-NESCAC, and in his junior year, he was named 1st team All-Nescac, and a 3rd team All-American. He is currently a senior captain of the Amherst lacrosse team.
